Concept
Combining three interactive light sculptures, Luminous Growth transports you into a glowing forest of fungi and slime mold. Neon mushrooms from Lumenoki flicker and pulse; tubes of neon from Lumenoki: Turkey Tail sprout from logs and giant spores from Reverie: Myxogastria tower around you. Each piece reacts to your presence and the forest communes with and around you. The combination of these three pieces into one space creates an immersive environment that can be enjoyed by all ages.
Lumenoki
LUMENOKI are giant neon mushrooms built from neon tubes, microprocessors and sensors; each unique grouping gives off pulsing vibes and cool glowing energy in reaction to people nearby.
LUMENOKI are inspired by the majestic realm of the fungi eukaryotic organism. We manifested this experience to give light to the phenomena in this integral part of our world and to give people an opportunity to play.

Lumenoki: Turkey Tail
Turkey Tail mushrooms are ubiquitous in our PNW forests, sprouting from most any fallen log in the forest. These playful neon sculptures highlight what we often overlook. Similar to the original Lumenoki, this piece consists of multiple neon tubes which glow and pulse in response to the presence of people.

Reverie: Myxogastria
Explore the microcosmic world of myxogastria (slime mold). These tiny organisms produce fantastical fruiting bodies and serve as the inspiration for these sculptures which incorporate light and sound. The work consists of 9 individual stalks with glowing orbs ranging in height from 5 feet to 13 feet. As you explore, they react to your presence as a living creature might and you become part of the artwork.

Luminous Growth
Luminous Growth combines these three pieces to create a unique forest-like environment which is flexible in layout and size to fit into a variety of spaces. The pieces from Reverie: Myxogastria produce low level sounds which lend an added mysterious ambience to the space. The piece is also configurable to be sound reactive so the work can be integrated into a sound-based performance, such as a DJ.
Because the three pieces are already complete, work on layout and ancillary details can proceed quickly.
